On 21 October 2025, Bison Maldives formally signed an agreement with the Government of Maldives to develop and operate an eco-luxury resort on L. Gasgan’dufinolhu. The agreement was signed at a ceremony in L. Gan, where the President highlighted the government’s plan to expand resort development in under-developed atolls. He noted that the Gasgan’dufinolhu agreement, signed in his presence, forms part of a broader initiative to stimulate tourism across Laamu Atoll.

The Gasgan’dufinolhu project will preserve much of the island’s natural vegetation while introducing discreet guest and staff areas. Plans call for 120 beds (60 Rooms) distributed among beachfront villas and over-water suites designed for privacy and minimal environmental impact. Once the master plan is finalised, construction will proceed in phases following environmental impact assessments. The development will create jobs and training opportunities for Laamu Atoll residents, supporting the region’s sustainable tourism ambitions.
